Topic: Meaning Of Subtraction.

 How did I create the material?

This time to teach content based material I have chosen MEANING OF SUBTRACTION topic from class III mathematics.  To make the learning more effective and understandable I have used the elements of power point presentation with voice narration to integrate ICT learning in the content. I have used different shapes and images to teach the lesson and then provided activity for the students to check their understanding on the particular topic.

Relevancy of the topic to the class level

The topic that I have chosen is relevant to class level as it’s the time where students learn about basic and easy methods to solve the complicated in the future. Moreover students face lots of difficulties when they deal with day to day life. So, to make clear understand on the content I have provided few questions related to the topic. Besides, to make use of the content learned in the daily life and able to use in proper ways.

Activity and the instruction

The activity is designed based on to check the understanding of the students mainly on the topic 'MEANING OF SUBTRACTION' after teacher’s explanation. Teacher will teach the meaning of subtraction with the pictures and numbers to make them remember easily. For further understanding about the topic, teacher will let them do the following activity.

Activity name: Question answering

INSTRUCTION  

1) The activity will be done individually.

2)    You will take out your notebook.

3)  Then go to page 28 in the text book.

4)    Read the questions carefully.

5) Read the examples and then complete question 1 and 2.

6)  For this activity, you will be provided with 5 minutes will be given.

Video tutorial( Camtasia) on math lesson

The content based materials I have prepared are for grade six. The topic is introducing relating volume to capacity to volume from Mathematics subject. The main objectives of the materials are to let students compare volume with capacity correctly after watching video tutorial. The tool I have used here is Camtasia. Camtasia is good for video editing and very easy to learn for the beginner.

To design this material, first I have prepared a PowerPoint presentation about capacity to volume referring text book and then screen recorded using Camtasia. I have designed a background using different colors and adjusted in center. This background is used all across the slides. I have used several animations like appear, fade, disappear, wipe in order to grab the student’s attention and not to distract them. I have created pictures using different shapes to make the concept interesting and understandable.

The content based material that I have designed can be used during lesson development. The video can be used in information input under lesson development in teaching the concepts to students because all the information is clearly explained with voice narration. Teacher can stop the video when it reaches to calculation part because continuing video will make them confused about the concept. We can also use the video while carrying out the activity. Revisit of the video will make them understand the calculation part better.

3)  Then go to page 55 in the text book.

4)    Read the questions carefully.

5) Complete question 1 and 2.

6)  For this activity, you will be provided with ten minutes will be given.

I have created content-based materials for grade I. The subject I have chosen is English and the topic is “The Body Parts". Here, the main objective is to let the students identify different body parts and name the body parts accordingly after watching video tutorial.  I have made a video on body parts in such a way that students can feel simple and easy to understand and students can learn this topic by practicing and singing the song ' Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes.

To deliver this lesson I have used Camtasia since it helps to grab the attention and it comprehend the learning styles for all the learners. I feel that this video lesson will help learns to learn because if they come across any doubt or if they are not clear with the content, they can watch the video again to clear their doubt. So, in this way, video lesson enhances the learner to learn confidently.

Moreover, to make the lesson effective I have designed a ppt in such a way that students understand the content better. I have used different pictures to represent parts of body which is made out of using the various shapes. I have also used simple and types of animation, background colors to grab their attention while learning the content.

When preparing the slide, I have inserted different shapes to make body and its part. Then, I have added emphasis animation in pictures. To check their understanding I have given a diagram to label. After that converted ppt into video.  The materials (video lesson) can be used in lesson development and during activity. To complete your activity, I have given clear instruction in the video so go through it la.

Write-up 

This is the reflection on content-based materials. I have designed these materials to teach class II students integrating PowerPoint.  The content-based materials that I have designed were on topic adding fractions with the same denominator under the mathematics curriculum. Here, the main objectives are to add fractions with the same denominator. It is simple to understand by the primary students.

Now, let me share with you all about my creation of materials. To create the materials, I have used PowerPoint as teaching and learning tools since it provides different teaching styles which can engage all different types of learner. I have created PowerPoint in such a way that it can uphold the attention of students in a glimpse. Since my topic is about adding fraction with the same denominator, I took an advantage of tools which were provided in the PowerPoint tools where I have used animation which includes entrance, emphasis, and exit in my PowerPoint presentation and added the voice modulation which enhances the learner to learn in various way and for better understand of the content.

When it comes to activities I have made the activities that allow children to think critically and solve the questions to make them understand the content and do the work independently after learning about adding a fraction with the same denominator. Moreover the activities is going to make children's learning easier when they start the new topic that is  adding fraction with different denominator. After going through this short write up, I hope you all have a little idea on how to teach adding fractions with the same denominator if you get the chance to teach in the future.

Lastly, I recommend all my readers to use or integrate ICT (PowerPoint presentation) in classroom teaching as it is more effective and easy to use for teaching and best for giving concepts to young learners.

Topic: Prepositions


Class level: II

How did  I created the material?

To teach I have chosen  PREPOSITIONS topic from class II.  Then to make the learning more effective and simple I have used the elements of power point presentation to integrate ICT in the content. I have used different shapes and images to represent different prepositions and then matching activity for the students to check their understanding on the particular topic.

The topic that I have chosen is relevant to class level as it’s the time where students learn about prepositions, because some students they doesn’t know the proper place of the things that they see in day to day life. Moreover they are not aware of the spellings. So, to make clear understand on the content I have created the matching activity with pictures and preposition on other side. So that they can make use of the content learned in the daily life and able to use in proper ways.

Activity and the instruction

The activity is designed based on to check the understanding of the students mainly on the topic 'preposition' after teachers explanation. Teacher will teach the prepositions with the pictures to make them remember easily. So to check their understanding about the topic,  teacher will let them do the following activity.

A.    Teachers have taught the different prepositions in the class by bringing the real objects in the class.

B.       To understand the topic clearly teacher will let them learn through the activities.

C.     Teacher will let students do the matching activity in the worksheet provided.

D.    Teacher will demonstrate on how to do activity to the students before letting them do alone.

E.     Then students will do the activity carefully by reading and looking the picture carefully.

F.      Some students who won’t be able to read will look at the picture and do the activity.

G.    Teacher will let few students come in front of the class and do the matching questions on the board.

H.    After that teacher will ask students to summarize the lesson.

Hello Everyone,

I am Tshering Wangmo from Dagana under Drujegang gewog but mostly I used to live with at Gangtey under Wangdue with dad. I came from broken famiy where my parents got divorced when I was in 10th grade. Currently I live with my friends in Paro( Chang Nangkha). I have completed my higher secondary school from Drujeygang Central school and joined as the trainee of Paro college of education in the year 2017.  Now it has been 4years studying and its my final year to be in the college.

I like to spent most of the time with family helping them with field works, doing the house chores and teaching younger ones. Then I enjoy going for a walk with mom and sharing our laughter together. Its fun  and at the same a burden being  an elder. Besides house chores I like listening to music especially dzongkha songs which are sung by artist Sonam Wangdi, and Pema Deki.

To kill boredom playing games became my hobby. I enjoy playing most of the outdoor games like basket ball, volleyball and football.  It helps to keep ourselves fit and active. Moreover i enjoy dancing and to entertain friends. Not only that but  also I love to learn different languages from the friends and I am working for it. Its fun learning different languages.

Besides language i love to visit different places. And among many places I want to visit Bumthang. it is the place where there are many holy sites and beautiful landscape. It gives pleasure time with my family and friends. moreover with friends, i can share my worries and laughter's at the same time.

 The best thing that ever happened to me is being in this college. Being together with friends and creating memories is one of the happiest thing to me.  The college also helped me to learn  and gain different knowledge with kind of experiences. i would like to say that i want to take all the knowledge that i have gained from the college and make use of it in the proper field.  i want to help younger ones to take and make the future bright.
